A transcode and keyframe edit of the famous final scene of Cinema Paradiso, exploring the fragility of a digital cinema landscape. Only 24 frames were removed from the original sequence, but the results are both beautiful and irreversibly traumatic. When a ‘film’ is no longer actual film, but instead formed of algorithms, new fragilities are exposed in the construction of the work, and the technological and commercial structures that determine its support.
Compressed and edited using FFMpegX, AviDemux and MPEG Streamclip
