ScreeningFilm.com (now offline) was an event listing site for community cinema screenings. The mapping interface enabled audiences to easily navigate to film events nearby, search gneeres and formats, and allowed programmers and venues to easily put their screening on the map.

The project began as part of an ongoing research project about cinema ecology, and also fed into my work with the Small Cinema projects. The site revealed a previously hidden layer of independent and community cinema activity, pulling the events, venues and programmers together in one place. As well as geo-location, use of tags and metadata revealed some key insights about genre across the events (documentary was top) and diversity (LGBT and #directedByWomen programming strands really finding their audiences). The site also hosted a blog with articles and weekly highlights, which contextualised many important aspects of independent film exhibition.
