video / interaction design - Sam Meech
sound design - Raz Ullah & Tom Rea Smith
av tech - Wired Science
A mysterious glowing disc appears, inviting people to play.
PORTALS is a mesmerizing interactive experience for all ages and abilities, allowing users to intuitively generate complex patterns and soundscapes using movement and colour.
PHASE ONE - PORTALS INSTALLATION - explore the generative properties of feedback and movement through projection mapping. Through audience movement and interaction, intricate organic patterns emerge from the PORTAL, accompanied by sound samples by Liverpool composer Tom Rea Smith.
PHASE TWO - VIDEO CULTURE PERFORMANCE - digital artist Sam Meech and musician Raz Ullah present a special performance in surround sound, using coloured lasers to 'grow' bacterial video forms in Red, Green and Blue on the PORTAL, whilst triggering a sweeping synth soundscape.
PORTALS is a sci-fi-inspired interactive video-mapping installation and AV performance exploring time, space and recursive patterns in nature. Hypnotic, enchanting, almost alive. PORTALS creates a window in space-time - a glimpse to another dimension.
Encounter something surreal. An everyday sci-fi experience.

INTERACTIVE VIDEO WORKSHOPS
I'm running some day-long interactive video workshops for beginners exploring live feed camera tracking using Isadora. If you're interesting in using movement to trigger sounds, using colour to remix video, or simply want to play with feedback, then this is for you.
I've tried to keep the cost as low as possible. I'll provide webcams etc. You just need to bring a laptop.
